It's Summer Vacation

Summer is halfway over already!!! I can't believe it. It's almost time to start thinking about what it takes to go back to school again. I wonder what the next school year will hold?

Another Day Here and Gone

Well, time has passed so quickly and I forget to write. Life has been hectic around here to say the least. Thanksgiving and Christmas went well. We missed the snow, but it was fun to do things with our little family. The kids loved their Christmas presents.

We built a sandbox over Christmas break and the kids spend many hours usually every day playing. They love it!!! Only bad part, all the sand that comes in the house with them. Since we have a wood floor, you feel every grain. Then it also gets into their beds. Ah, well. Someday they'll be old enough to shake the sand off before they come in the house.

On Friday we bought two orange and one grapefruit tree. We still need to plant the grapefruit tree, but we should get fruit off of them next year. Yeah!!! We've been talking with the kids about how you can't touch or pull off the leaves because the kids have been known do that in the past, but Aurora feels possesive over all we've planted so far so we shouldn't have too much trouble.

No new info on Miriam yet. The GI had us take her back in for some more blood work to see if her ALT had come down, her CO2 had increased, and to recheck her amino acids. Hopefully we'll here back sometime today or if not then Kev will call tomorrow. Other than that she acts like a normal, healthy 14 month old.

So another day is almost over and we're excited to see what the next one brings.

Another Day

Hey all,

Sorry that it's been so long since I last posted. Each day seems to come and go so quickly that I forget how long it's been. A lot can happen in a month and then not very much all at the same time.

We've been so busy with our house. Getting everything done for it, and now trying to get everything done at our old house so that hopefully someone will rent it and we won't have to worry about it anymore. Then just getting our own stuff put away in our new house that time has flown by. We're lucky that Kevin knows how to do a lot of the things that were required to fix our hosue, and then the things that we didn't know how to do so that we've been able to take care of it ourselves. It's given us a little extra money for Christmas, not a lot, but any extra is always nice to have.

I would call Aurora my Impossible 3 Year Old. She is so smart and thinks that everything needs to be her own way. She's even starting to micic my tone of voice from when I'm telling her what to do, so that she has that tone of voice when she's trying to tell me or her daddy what to do. It's cute, but at the same time so aggravating. I always think to myself, "Grrr..... you're three. Stop, this isn't the way that you're supposed to be acting!"

And Spencer, it was a good thing that he stayed in his room last night after I told him to!!! Kevin was at scouts and I was putting Miriam to bed. Aurora comes in to tell me that Spencer had made a mess on my bedroom carpet (remember, brand new, only been in for a week or two). I didn't think much of it, and did a few more things. Then, I walked into my bedroom. It was a good thing that Spencer wasn't near me!!! He had taken the caramel syrup out of the fridge and held it upside down, while walking and thinking about who knows what. So that there was a trail of caramel syrup from one bedroom door, to the closet, a circle (like he turned around) back over to walk to the other bedroom door, with other little circles of caramel syrup all along the way like he couldn't decide where he was going or what he wanted to do. My brand new carpet. I haven't even had time to show it off. :( Thankfully, we have a friend who owns a carpet shampooer so we shampooed our bedroom carpet last night. It should be all gone now, but just the thought. I don't know whether to laugh at what my son must have been thinking about or whether to scream that he dripped caramel syrup all across the room.

Miriam of course, hadn't fallen asleep yet, so I had Aurora finish laying her down. That didn't work the best since Aurora didn't want to go to bed, but it was bedtime and I had to clean up caramel. The girl's bedroom door was shut, so at least I knew Miriam was safe from walking through the caramel!

We're trying to decide what to do for Miriam's birthday. She turns 1 on Tuesday!!!! A year already, I can't believe it. I think that we're going to go to the zoo, but I want to invite some others to go with us and maybe have some cake or something while we're there. We'll see what happens.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Love Lots,

Laura

A Late Afternoon

Hey All,

Well I'm still here at school becaus I got caught up in getting on blogs and reading. I don't have a whole lot to say right now, but that all is going well. Actually, Spencer is sick. He has a stomach virus, so I guess all is not going well. :( Kevin took him to the doctor today. We've been wondering for a day or two, but he didn't want to wake up at all today and slept for 14 hours straight (almost).

We were going to close on our house today or tomorrow, but it's been pushed back until the middle of next week. I'm just ready for it to be over and done with now. The excitement has about worn off, but we don't have anyone to take over the lease for the house that we're currently living in so I guess there's no rush. :(

Well. I better go so that I can get home. I'll write more soon.

A Day in the Life of a Mother and Teacher

Hey all,

I really need to update this more often. Everything is going well, days are busy! Kevin is home with the kids during the day, doing scouting a couple of evenings a week, and I'm at school teaching during the day!

I normally wake up around 6:00 and feed Miriam. Then I rush to get myself dressed and ready for the day so that I can get to school a little early to either work on lesson plans or finish preparing for the school day!

After I get to school. I'm working with the students, teaching them about our sun, the planets, the solar system, and the galaxy right now! I love it! It's so fascinating to see the students as they come to understand or grasp something new! School then gets out at 3:15 and I work at clenaing up the class and setting up for the next day. Occasionally competely redesigning what I had planned for the next day because of what students do or do not know.

Then I go home to help take care of and teach my 3 beautiful children. Aurora is so obstinate and head strong. I pray that she chooses to do what's right as she grows up. Spencer is a goof ball. He's constantly making us all laugh. And then there's Miriam. She is a mama's girl if I ever saw one. The minute I walk through the door, she thinks that she has to be the center of my attention. Fortunately for her I give in to that quite often since I've been gone all day. Miriam is always getting close to walking!!!

Our days are also full as we are buying a home, so we're packing, picking out colors for our new house, trying to clean, and keep the kids from making bigger messes :) All in all though everything turns out well. We found someone to take over our lease, so we just need to get to the closing date, sign on our house, paint our new house, move our stuff, paint the house we're currently renting, and we'll be good to go!!! Luckily, we've had people who have offered to help us!

Well, gotta go.

The Verdict Is: School is In!!!

Hey all,

Meaning my twin for the most part. Sarah you need to get some other people who know me to view this so I don't feel like it's a monologue to you. Well school is in. We have had 5 official school days. I love being back and teaching, but I always feel like I didn't get enough time with my husband and children.

Kevin is back to being Mr. Mom. He's doing really well with it and the kids absolutely love having him home. He's working on starting a small preschool program with Aurora. I think we need to figure out a way to get a few people involved, but we'll see what happens.

Everything has seemed so crazy and hectic, but at the same time ran really smoothly. I am the grade level lead for 7th grade this year, and that is working out well. We have a lot of fun things planned for our students. Right now we're waiting to see if we get a grant from Barnes and Noble for some classroom sets of books. :) Keep your fingers crossed for me.

My children are doing great. Miriam is getting close to walking and she is constantly following her brother and sister around. Sometimes it seems that what they are doing is going to hurt her, but Kevin gets over to them and Miriam is laughing hysterically, as if it's the best thing in the world!!! She is a character!

That's all for now. See you later.

A few weeks til school starts.

Hey all,

We have been enjoying my time at home. I go back to work in just a few short weeks. The time between now and then will be very busy. We have a baptism, a wedding reception, a Pioneer trek to help with one day, I have to work for three days next week, etc. There's so much to do and not enough time.

In the meantime my children are growing like weeds. Miriam is trying to insist on feeding herself. She decided on that a lot earlier in life hten my other two did (since she's only 7 1/2 months old). She has also started crawling and pulling herself up, then of course cruising. Aurora and Spencer are still learning ABC's, colors, numbers, how to count. Each day they come up with more new and exciting things to do.

That's about all for today.
